SUMMER HOLIDAYS, PARIS OLYMPICS 24 & SHOP CLOSED
SUMMER HOLIDAY ANNOUNCEMENT:
Shop closed between Friday 2nd August – 9th Friday August 2024, re-open on Saturday 10th August.
I will be taking a week off for a summer break and am really excited to be going to Paris for the Olympics.
Knits in Progress
I have a few current works in progress, but I don’t think I will have the luggage space to take them with me. Currently on my needles

I am in love with this sweater. The colourwork is rather addictive. I am using a mixture of sport weight yarns and fingering weight yarns held double in my stash, the main colour is a wool by Wooldreamers, a limited edition Spanish merino.
It was hard to choose the yarns for this, as a lot of colours I originally had in mind, disappeared against the main colour. I have also become very sensitive to a lot of wools and I needed something which was soft but not too slippery.
Jelly Roll Socks by Orange County Knits
This is my favourite trainer sock pattern for the summer. It is a great stash buster also. I like the corrugated rib areas as it grips the foot.
Using socks yeah 4ply as the main colour, and bits of mini and leftovers for the contrast colours.

This is my 3rd Cumulus blouse so far, in this version I used a hand dyed silk mohair by Dystopic Fibres and paired it with a fingering weight silk yarn by BC garn called Jaipur Silk, knitted on 4.5mm needles. I wanted to finish this project, but I got a bit distracted!
Marled Magic Sweater by Westknits
Another stash buster project, which I have in the background. It is getting a bit big now, but I love it as it is such an interesting knit and never boring. I have been using up lots of bits in pieces of single skeins of hand dyed yarns and balls of wool I have collected over the years, mostly fingering weight held with mohair.

Knitting for Olive Pure Silk and Cotton Merino in store and a long weekend in N.Ireland. Shop closed between Sunday 30th June – Tuesday 2nd July 2024.

Knitting for Olive (Denmark) – Cotton Merino – 16 colours are now in stock. Light fingering weight, (50g – 250m) great for summer vests and also for holding with other lace weight yarns to produce a sportweight yarn. £8.50 inc VAT per ball.
Knitting for Olive’s Pure Silk is made of 100 % bourette silk. Bourette silk is made of silk waste created during silk processing. The short, leftover silk fibers are spun into a new yarn. It has a rustic and uneven look and is less shiny than other types of silk. This is the perfect yarn for summer tops and summer dresses, but it will also make a luxurious sweater combined with Silk Mohair.
Pure Silk – 50g – 250m. £10.50 inc. VAT per ball. Currently 22 colours in stock.

Loved wearing this sweater this season, made with Knitting for Olive’s pure silk, the pattern is called Blouse No.1 by myfavouritethings.knitwear . It is very comfortable to wear and it did knit up quite quickly once I put my mind to it, as it was knitted with 5mm needles with the yarn held double.
Shop closed on SUNDAY 30th June and TUESDAY 2nd July 2024 for a short break.
Will be visiting family in N.Ireland and will be back in the shop again on Wednesday 3rd July 2024.
Latest shop news and arrivals and closed Friday, 14th June 24

Took advantage of a quiet week to tidy up the back area with some new shelving from IKEA. It has been very busy last year with post COVID interest in learning to knit and crochet, but it has started to normalise.
I found these Elvarli open shelving units provide great storage and also for displaying some of the wool and the books I have in stock.
I don’t sell loads of patterns in the store, but I do get a lot of requests for easy and simple patterns, preferably non digital and also using straight needles!
Recently, I have started stocking Jane Ellison’s patterns for their simplicity, which are perfect for semi-beginner knitters who wish to move onto garments. Jane is based in Yorkshire and has been designing for decades.

I have just received a small delivery of Hedgehog Fibres’s Tweedy DK. They are priced at £25.00
Colours in stock: Noir, Soot, Amethyst, Connemara, Barley, Moonlight, Lullaby, Original and Haze
CLOSED on Friday, 14th June 24, but re-opening around 1.30 on 15th Saturday, as I will be going to St Andrews for my son’s graduation. I can’t believe how quickly the time has flown by.
